Traditions
The tradition of the Pod vrbo Inn dates back to 1905, when the innkeeper of that time, Matevž Soklič, started the innkeeper’s craft, offering rum, plum brandy, gin, soda and selling dishes. Later, for a while, the building housed an elementary school and a shop. Its fame was revived by the Slovenian film “To so gadi” in 1977. After 1952, the owners and generations changed, and with short interruptions, they continued the inn business until today..
From the inn to lodging
The Pod vrbo Inn is located along the route of the world-famous architect, Jože Plečnik. It is an old Ljubljana inn with friendly people, where we lovingly serve homemade dishes from a wide selection of Slovenian regions, made from fresh ingredients, with an emphasis on seasonal dishes, in the pleasantly cool shade of the garden or in the warm interior atmosphere. You can also try our freshly baked bread, different homemade rolls and traditional “štruklji”. We are proud of our herb garden with spices and fragrances, which enrich our dishes on a daily basis.
In 2022, we arranged accommodation facilities on the floor above the inn and in the annex, where we offer overnight stays with a Slovenian breakfast in modern rooms. So, our offer was enriched and is even more varied today.
